The Hegeman Safe Haven, located at 740 Hegeman Avenue in East New York, opened in May 2010. It has 55 units
that houses single adult men and women as well as couples. There are single, double and triple occupancy rooms
with both dormitory and private bathrooms on each floor. Three meals per day are served.
In FY 2012 The Hegeman Safe Haven accomplished the following:
We served 27,794 meals
We provided 3,072 counseling and groups sessions
We placed 23 clients into permanent housing
We completed 84 HRA 2010e Housing applications and 72 were approved.
15 clients completed detox
6 clients completed rehab
19 clients are receiving out pt services
128 intakes were conducted
In FY 2013 The Hegeman Safe Haven staff anticipates:
Placing 22 chronic street homeless clients into permanent housing
Providing 3,000 counseling and group sessions
Serving 28,000 meals
Getting HRA 2010(e) approval for 90% of residents served.
