Amtrak Outreach Program

Funded by Amtrak, this program is located in Penn Station, closest to the 32nd Street and Seventh Avenue entrance.   Outreach is conducted at least three times daily and the Amtrak Police is contacted daily to conduct joint outreach tours.   Two counts per shift are conducted; a team follows a set diagram and counts the number of individuals encountered who are suspected of being homeless.  Amtrak-linked consumers are referred to drop-in centers, shelters, safe havens, stabilization beds, detox/rehab facilities, and medical facilities.
